A scheme for providing one time grant to BPL families in the rural areas for release of new LPG connection under Rajiv Gandhi Gramin LPG Vitarak Yojana (RGGLVY) has been formulated. As per the scheme the security deposit for the cylinder (Rs.1250/-) and Pressure Regulator (Rs.150/-) will be paid from the fund created for the purpose. CSR fund of the Oil Companies (ONGC, OIL, GAIL, IOCL, BPCL and HPCL) will be utilised for the above scheme.
The scheme is proposed to be implemented for BPL households situated within the marketing area of RGGLVs. The BPL status of the household will have to be authenticated by the concerned State authorities. It is envisage to release 250 connections per operational RGGLV. The prospective customer has to bear the cost of other accessories, related charges and the cost of gas.
Additionally some of the States like Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh etc are having State sponsored scheme for releasing new connections to BPL families.
